TV Ads Inform Retailers and Consumers of latest Spirit to Add Cherry Flavor

SoCo Bold Black is latest Cherry to Pick

It’s not in a song yet but it is on TV and the launch of Southern Comfort Bold Black Cherry is being introduced to retailers and consumers this summer on ESPN, TBS, FX and Comedy Central.

Bold Black Cherry is another flavor to their growing line that includes Southern Comfort Lime which was introduced in 2010 and Southern Comfort Fiery Pepper which debuted in 2011. According to the press release that announced the latest flavor, SoCo Cherry is “perfectly served with cola to enhance the rich, complex flavor”.

It may lack some innovation but cherry is the hot flavor and it does hit the target of a flavored spirit option to the standard cola mixer. Jim Beam Red Stag which has position since its launch in 2009 is the leader for cherry infused whiskey (bourbon) and recently Bacardi USA introduced Grey Goose Cherry Noir to the marketplace to join Effen Black Cherry Vodka which launched in 2004 and was purchased by Jim Beam Inc in 2009.

“We feel Bold Black Cherry will recruit new consumers into the Southern Comfort franchise who enjoy a distinctive flavor profile in their cocktails.” said Mark Bacon, VP, Managing Director, Southern Comfort.

The advertising campaign is scheduled for a six-week period which announces the line extension to consumers as well as to many retailers.

The brand is confident the new expression will continue to increase relevancy amongst younger drinkers, offering a bolder drink that’s ideal for high energy occasions. Southern Comfort, is the iconic fruit, spice, and whiskey flavored liqueur, that was created in 1874 by bartender M.W. Heron in New Orleans and is owned by the Brown-Forman Corporation.

The TV ads are designed to drive consumers and convince retailers to add Southern Comfort Bold Black Cherry to the already crowded bar bars and retail shelves.

As the campaign launches, distribution is scheduled for the United States as well as the United Kingdom and Ireland. Southern Comfort Bold Black Cherry is bottled at 70 proof with a suggested retail price of $16.99 for a 750ml bottle.
