Napa Wine Auction Beats Naples…Or Did They?
Seasonal Wine Events Crucial to Napa Charities and Naples Children & Education Foundation

The 29th Annual Auction Napa Valley weekend charity effort raised $5.7 million over the June 3-6 extravaganza, beating the Naples Winter Wine Festival which raised $5.1 million this year. Official totals may be a bit skewed since Auction Napa Valley included an online E-Auction and various other events during the 4-day weekend. Napa and Naples are the top two wine auction fund raising events in the country, but the economy has driven numbers down substantially. In 2008, the Naples event raised $14 million just their 9th year, while Napa Valley totaled $10.3 million. Both events are critical to the survival of many charitable programs in both communities, and the Naples Winter Wine Festival donated all monies to Collier County programs though the Naples Children & Education Foundation. Next year’s event will be the 10th year of the local event and is scheduled for January 29-31.
