Myers.

On Sunday, July 26th, City Tavern & Offerman Automotive will host the Rhythm on the River Summer Fest in the downtown River District to raise funds for the 2009 Brotherhood Ride. This year the Brotherhood Ride proceeds will go to the Widman Family to establish an annual Officer of the Year Award.

The Rhythm on the River Summer Fest is a day of free fun, activities, and entertainment combined with a classic car show and competition. The event will be located in the lot on the corner of Dean and Edwards, across from the Harborside Event Center and will run from 11am-9pm. There will be vendors selling delicious offerings from their menus, hand designed creations, unique services, lots of free parking and family friendly activities for all ages. will be live bands performing from 4-6pm and Head Count performs from 7-9pm. D.J. Mike Cole from DJMC, Inc. will also be on site providing music from 1pm-9pm. After all of the festivities of the Rhythm on the River Summer Fest is over, The Geek Skwad will be playing at 10pm on the City Tavern main stage.

“City Tavern recently came under new ownership when Dickson Hunley and Kevin Offerman purchased the business in August of 2008. They, along with myself, are glad to be a part of the Downtown River District community. We wanted to give something back to the community that has shown us so much support. The redevelopment agency, local police and fire departments along with Budweiser have really stepped up to help make this event come to life.” said City Tavern General Manager Matt “Swoop” Kinghorn.

The classic car show and competition promises to bring many examples of automotive craftsmanship and engineering to the Rhythm on the River Summer Fest. Kevin Offerman, owner of Offerman Automotive said, “We will have classics, customs, & street rods from the1940’s through today.
