James Beard Foundation to Select First-Ever ‘Outstanding Bar’ from Field of 24
New Award Recognizes ‘High Standards of Excellence” for Cocktail, Spirits and/or Beer Service
After review of more than 2,200 entries, the field has be narrowed to 24 semi-finalists for the “Outstanding Bar Program Award”. Eighteen States are represented and nominees will be announced on March 19 in Las Vegas for this new award category by The James Beard Foundation.
The new award category was announced in December 2011 for Restaurants and Bars across America and according to Susan Ungaro, President of the James Beard Foundation was created to “shine a spotlight on previously unrecognized experts in the beverage and epicurean world and their positive impact on the way we eat, drink, cook, and think about the culinary arts in America.”
The James Beard Foundation award immediately becomes the most prestigious honor in the beverage industry. The JBF is known for having the most respected recognition program to honor professionals in the food and beverage industries.
It was recently announced that Campari will be the presenting sponsor of the Inaugural “Outstanding Bar Program” Award nominations.
The 24 finalists represent 18 US States with five cities, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, New Orleans and San Fransico earning two finalists each. Here are the 24 from Alexandria Virgina and all the way back to Washington, D.C.
