Tell me about Budweiser’s Beechwood Aging?
When a batch of Budweiser is brewed, some 30,000 Beechwood chips go into the bottom of each stainless steel aging tank to create that industry famous ‘beechwood aging’. The man that perfected the traditional method is Claude McCord. In 1947 the Mit graduate designed the process that turns beech boards from the mid-south into perfect helical spiral chips, that are each precisely 18 inches long, 1 1/2 inches wide and 1/8 inch thick.
