Darden Group Makes Change and ‘Popular Pro’ Peter Lopez is Replaced During Holiday Season
Peter Lopez to be missed at Naples' Capital Grill
Peter Lopez, who held the title Proprietor/Managing Partner at the popular Capital Grille at The Mercato in Naples was replaced over the weekend by the Darden Group. No details have been released, but Lopez had been the face and heart of the restaurant since opening in Naples in 2008.
Lopez had over 5 years with Capital Grille, the elite Steak House concept of the Darden Group that’s also the corporation behind the Red Lobster and The Olive Garden concepts.
Word traveled fast around the restaurant community initially around Mercato and became the 239Buzz throughout the weekend. The removal of Lopez was more of a shocker than last week’s news from Mercato of the closing of the troubled Pure Urban Oasis, which was expected months ago.
