JACK DANIELS WALKS AWAY FROM NASCAR

jack carJack Daniel’s won’t be circling the track after the 2009 season, and have announced that they will no longer sponsor Richard Childress Racing’s No. 07  NASCAR Team. Owner Brown-Forman sited a change in its “spending priorities” due to the recession as the reason for discontinuing the partnership.

Jack Daniels has been with RCR since 2005 and spent this season sponsoring the No. 07 Chevrolet for Casey Mears. Jack Daniels has been with three different drivers at RCR through 171 races. Its most successful stint was with Clint Bower in 2007 and 2008, when he twice made the chase for the championship and finished third and fifth in the final standings.

“While it is difficult for us to end our formal relationship with Richard Childress Racing, the current economic environment has compelled us to reevaluate our spending and we’ve concluded that other areas in  marketing require additional investment.” said Jack Daniel’s vp and brand director Tim Rutledge. He added that the Jack Daniel’s brand would seek  “other areas and opportunities in the marketing mix”.
