250th guinness sq 400x295 Happy Birthday Guinness!Guinness  celebrates the signing of its lease 250 years ago at the St. James’s Gate Brewery in Dublin with a worldwide toast to founder Arthur Guinness today. “Leased for 9,000 years in 1759 by Arthur Guinness at £45 per year, St. James’s Gate has been the home of Guinness ever since. It became the largest brewery in Ireland in 1838, and was the largest in the world in 1914.”

The party has already begun and the celebration for the iconic brand will feature a Celebrity Toast to be based at the St. James’s Gate in Dublin. Sir Bob Geldorf, Guy Ritchie, Carson Daly, Jerry Hall and Sophie Dahl will be just a few of the celebrities raising a pint at 5:59 p.m. (or 17:59 in military time)

Guinness master brewer Fergal Murray, has also created a limited-edition Guinness 250 Anniversary Stout, a new carbonated brew made for the ‘international palate’.  The anniversary stout will be only be available for six months and only in the U.S., Australia and Singapore markets, according to Diageo PLC, owner of Guinness and the world’s largest liquor producer.

The Black Eyed Peas, Soul II Soul and The Undertones will just be a few of the international music stars that will help Guinness celebrate its 250th anniversary all around the world today.

The Grammy Award-winning Black Eyed Peas will perform in Asia  as part of Guinness’ global anniversary celebrations, which will simultaneously see 24-hours of live music and festivities take place in various cities around the world including New York, Lagos, Yaoundé, Kuala Lumpur and at the spiritual home of Guinness, Dublin. Dublin’s St. James’s Gate Brewery, where Guinness is still produced, will be transformed into a live music studio for the event and host a series of performances for an audience of 2,000 guests. Estelle, Kasabian, Noah & the Whale, the Wombats, the Enemy, Soul II Soul, the Undertones, D’Banj, Reverend & the Makers, Mongrel, Mystery Jets, Johnny Flynn and DJ and producer David Holmes are all in Dublin today and the Guinness will be flowing.  Guinness is the only brand of beer available in every country in the world.
