Haitian farmers saw the value in growing a better product for the booming specialty coffee industry and until hurricanes destroyed many fields in recent years, Haiti benefited from revenue from selling a higher quality Arabica coffee.  In recent years, Haitian farmers have been educated in optimal growing and processing techniques with the help of the Fair Trade Coffee Association.
