Backstreets in Cape Coral hosts 14 Bands as Community Steps Up for Scott ‘Scooby’ Bush
The summer has been a tough one for all in the hospitality and entertainment industry in Southwest Florida, and for local musician Scott Bush its been worse. The lead guitarist of the popular party band ‘The Geek Skwad’ who is known to all as ‘Scooby’ has been fighting kidney stones for the entire summer that resulted in several surgeries and at least six weeks of missed work.
Backstreets Sports Bar & Pizzeria of Cape Coral will host a night of music this Monday night August 22 that will feature over 14 bands and hundreds of fans all there to support one of their own. Scoobypalooza will begin at 7 pm and will be a showcase of SWFL’s best bands and a show of force for a brotherhood of musicians.
Scooby has been left with huge doctor bills and as the bills stacked up, Shelly Cranford of Backstreets and her staff decided to help. On this special Monday night, the entire community of musicians, bartenders, sound techs, servers, fans and friends will gather to raise a glass…and a few bucks for Scooby.
Bands that have confirmed include A200, Soapy Tuna, DVS, Supernatural, Sinyu, Traffic Jam, Groove Alliance, The Michael King Band, MT40, The Troublemakerz, Long Story Short, Bad Banditos and Backlash. Expect special guests and special jams including and a special reunion set from The 4:20 Brothers.
There are few opportunities for entertainers and hospitality pros to get together and what is being called Scoobypalooza event becomes more of a ‘Summerfest’ that will include food and drinks specials and raffles that will all help to offset Scooby’s bills.
There is still time to donate to the cause with gift certificates and raffle items. Contact fellow Geek Swad band member Tyler Kluesner at 239-677-0822
