European Hops Production Up, Down Sales Equals Surplus

Now that one of Europe’s leading producers of hops has reported a surplus, it looks like there may be some production savings for brewers in the coming years. China Still Top Beer Producer and Consumer

China has maintained its position as the world’s biggest beer nation. Last year China topped the rest of the world producing more than 410 million hectolitres. A hectolitre is equal to 100 liters and China now produces four times the volume that is produced in Germany. China also recorded the highest growth in output of all countries in 2008, with an increase of more than 17 million hectolitres. Where does the USA rank?

Culinary Concepts Contributes $230,000 to Children’s Museum of Naples

Over the past six years, Culinary Concepts and its Karma Club has helped raise more than $1 million to local children’s charities and their families. This year contributions total $230,000 as visitors from the five Culinary Concept restaurants – Pazzo! Italian Café and Yabba Island Grill in Naples, Chops City Grill in Bonita Springs and Naples and Blue Water Bistro in Estero.

The nonprofit Karma Club was established more than seven years ago by Culinary Concepts as a way for its 300-plus employees to give back to the Southwest Florida community.

Gruppo-Campari Finalizes Purchase of Wild Turkey

The Italian based Gruppo Campari has finalized the purchase of Wild Turkey Bourbon and its affiliated brands from Pernod Ricard for $581 million in cash.
